2013 Jaguar XK Diesel version ??

For lovers of Jaguar could have a "sacrilege". After the dark years that led to the creation of the X-Type, based on the mechanics and the chassis of the Ford Mondeo, and after the abandonment of the forms related to the stylistic tradition with the new course introduced from XF saloon (but is having good success), the Jaguar is apparently planning to adopt a diesel engine even in its sportiest model, the XK coupe (pictured Rs 510 hp version).

According to sources close to the House, reported by Autocar UK site, a score of prototypes have already been built and tested, but the program would have been until now "frozen" for some doubts about the leadership potential of success of the model.
Supporters of the project, on the other hand, argue that sales have plunged the Jaguar XK and a diesel variant could revive the fortunes of the present, tracing the success it is achieving with the BMW 635d. The 3.0 V6 Biturbo with 275 hp, which already equips the XF and XJ saloons, could provide more than adequate performance (an estimated 250 km / h top speed and acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in around 6 seconds). Numbers better than the XK 3.6 V8 petrol, compared to what could boast lower operating costs. If a decision for the current series was not taken and still seems on the high seas, it is almost certain that the diesel engine will be mounted on the next generation XK, which should arrive in 2013.
