Land Rover reveals hybrid Range_e Concept is the first car brand to combine diesel and electric

Reducing emissions is the order on clipboards for all automakers. With the Land Rover specialist in the development of commercial vehicles, is no different. On Wednesday (12), the UK brand unveiled the first details of Range_e, prototype based on the luxurious Range Rover Sport engine with hybrid diesel / electric, whose production version arrives in 2013, the company reports.

To develop a comprehensive new technology propelling the car, Land Rover has prepared a fleet of five units of the car, which will run tests in the UK. The manufacturer, however, does not disclose technical details further investigation into the car, which, in the words of the company, was 110 kg heavier than the conventional diesel Range Rover Sport, which uses engine 3.0 V6 TDI 245 bhp.

Besides Jipa high luxury, LR also reports that the line Discovery 2013 will also have an option with hybrid drive. Another car brand that adopt this type of technology is the LRX, which is still new model scheduled for release next year.
