Volvo will improve the speed record for hybrid truck
After improving the world speed record for diesel trucks in June this year, Volvo Trucks preparing a new record.
This time it is a hybrid version of the truck, diesel and electric motor. The prototype is called "Mean Green" and will try to improve the record for fastest hybrid truck in the spring of 2011.

A pilot who will try to set new record is a Swedish athlete Boje Ovebrink (Boije Ovebrink). He is sure to set a new record, stating that "Mean Green" is the fastest hybrid truck to the ground.

The truck was designed by Swedish engineer from Volvo Olof Johansson (Olof Johansson). Conventional diesel engines Volvo is a volume of 16 liters and the system Volvo Penta biturbo. Its maximum power is 1900 hp (1417 kW). Motor adds another 200 hp (149 kW), and maximum torque is 1000 Nm. The gearbox is automatic I-Shift.
